I’m glad to let everybody know that the OSMPA website just went live! Thanks to Helge, Oliver and Dmitry for their great help! We’re still not having much content, so any content developer is welcome! If you have great ideas on what to say and how to design our website, let us know.

e-mail addresses @osmpa.org

May 26th, 2008 by floeff

We now can offer e-mail forwarders firstname.lastname@osmpa.org. Anyone interested in having this free service, please drop an e-mail to webmaster@osmpa.org with the destination address. As of now, we only support forwarding, not real POP3/IMAP.

Some legal stuff: Be advised that this is a free service that currently is in testing. Outages may occur, and there are NO guarantees nor warranties. We DO spam and virus filtering which MAY lead to (even erroneously) deleted e-mails without any notification to the sender nor the recipient, and this behaviour currently is NOT controllable by the user. So, for mission-critical or business stuff, please use your mail provider instead of our free service.

Migration of the mailing list

May 26th, 2008 by floeff

The migration of the mailing list to our own server is in progress. All subscribers of the Google Group received an invitation they have to confirm in order to get subscribed to our new discuss list at lists.osmpa.org. New subscribers can subscribe themselves. For more details on the list, see http://lists.osmpa.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Server migration nearly done

May 24th, 2008 by floeff

Thanks to the great help of Dmitry, Helge and Oli, the server migration to our donated virtual server is nearly done. The blog has been transferred and user accounts will be set up upon request, and the CMS will be running in a few days. We now also can offer free e-mail forwarders (please see legal notice at mailing list!) to interested members of OSMPA. Looking forward to the things to come!

Kai Altenfelder joins OSMPA

March 18th, 2008 by Helge

Kai is owner of Altenfelder Services Consulting, Foundation Coach at the OSBF (Open Source Business Foundation) and former Director Support Services at SuSE Linux and Novell. In his own words:

Hi,

Oliver told me about the newly founded association and here I am:

I am a selfemployed management consultant, specialized in services management / services marketing. Before that I was responsible for Novell’s worldwide L3-support for Linux and built up SuSE’s support organisation. Together with Oliver I then defined the support and services offerings and related delivery processes of SuSE.

Since I am a campus coach for the OSBF as well I offer to share best practices in services marketing for open source solutions.

Welcome at OSMPA, Kai. Great to have you with us.

Andreas Milles of Spreadshirt joins OSMPA

March 18th, 2008 by Helge

Andreas is a/the so called “brand evangelist” at spreadshirt.net where he runs Open Marketing stuff like the Open Logo Project (Spreadshirts new Logo invented by the crowd), LaFraise (ongoing t-shirt design competitin) a great german weblog called “Companice” (first weblog with a “b-side” i know) about marketing in times of web 2.0, crowdsourcing etc., deeply involved with autoki, a german car-lovers community — and as we worked together at Dorten in a previous life — he’s a great guy to discuss with about Big-G’s latest Buzz, too ..

Great you accepted the invitation, Ami! - I’m very much looking forward to discussing the scope of OSMPA with you. Is it “only” Marketing for Open Source Products or is it also Marketers using “open source methodologies”? We’ll both see what rest of galaxy thinks about it. - Helge

Matthias Stuermer of ch-open joins OSMPA

March 18th, 2008 by Helge

So now we have members from all DACH-Countries at OSMPA. Warm Welcome to Matthias Stuermer of ch-open who writes to OSMPA:

Hi

I didn’t really understand what your activities will be. Nevermind, reading “Open Source” and “Marketing” kind of fits my initiatives such as OpenExpo, OSS at schools, Ubuntu Swiss Remix and other /ch/open activities found on http://www.ch-open.ch .

Eager to hear from you on how to proceed, best,

Matthias

Matthias, we discuss future activities of OSMPA in our Goo***Group. Once you join us there, you can actively participate in setting up activities and OSMPA-Projects. - Helge
